Apple Pie Cake has both of the desserts you love: apple pie and cake all in one. This easy cake starts with a cake mix and uses apple pie filling so you don’t even need frosting (unless you want it with ice cream, that is). This is the perfect fall cake recipe!

I love recipes that can pull double duty, and this easy apple dump cake with cake mix is one of my favorites. Skip the pie crust and all the stress and make this cake instead! It’s the perfect cake to serve for breakfast or dessert with a dusting of powdered sugar.
- This easy apple cake starts with a cake mix.
- It has just 5 ingredients!
- It comes together in no time at all and everyone loves this recipe!
- It’s delicious warm or cold!

Apple Pie Cake Ingredients
- Cake Mix: I used a spice cake mix because I had it in my pantry but you can also use yellow cake mix (add 1 teaspoon cinnamon).
- Oil, water, and eggs to make the cake (following the package instructions).
- Apple pie filling: use half of my homemade recipe or a full 21 ounce can.
- For serving: Powdered sugar, ice cream and/or caramel sauce
- This would actually work with any flavors, like blueberry pie filling or cherry pie filling too!
- If you want, add a cup of chopped pecans or walnuts on top with the apple pie filling.

Dorothy’s Testing Notes
- This cake doesn’t need buttercream frosting because it’s perfectly sweet. But you can definitely add some – or cream cheese frosting.
- The cake is done baking when a toothpick comes out clean from the center of the cake.
- Store leftovers loosely covered at room temperature for 1-2 days or in the fridge for 3-4 days. It also freezes well wrapped in plastic wrap or in an airtight container.
