Candy Cane Fudge (Peppermint Fudge) is an easy white chocolate fudge recipe with tons of peppermint flavor! With just 4 ingredients and 15 minutes you can have a no-fail Christmas fudge that’s so delicious.

I love easy fudge – it’s so simple to make with just 3 main ingredients. While I love chocolate fudge, I love making white chocolate fudge because it’s like a blank canvas: add almost anything and change the flavor easily.

When I was testing fudge recipes I decided to try peppermint because candy canes (and fudge) are the hallmark of Christmas – and the combo works so well. This is an easy no fail fudge with sweetened condensed milk – anyone can make this recipe!

How to make Candy Cane Fudge

  • You’ll need white chocolate chips – be sure to use a newer bag so they melt easier.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk is how the fudge becomes, well, fudge. Be sure to use regular (NOT nonfat or fat-free).
  • Candy canes add the peppermint flavor. I like buying a bag of already crushed candy canes but you can crush your own using a rolling pin.
  • I don’t usually add peppermint extract because I find the candy canes add enough flavor, but you can add 1/4 tsp peppermint extract.
  • Easy fudge is made for an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch pan. Line it with foil for easy removal.

Dorothy’s Expert Tips

  • If you’re struggling to get the white chocolate to melt, use a spatula to smoosh it as it heats. It’ll eventually disolve.
  • I like doing this in a pan over medium-low heat, stirring almost constantly because I can control the heat. You can make it in a microwave but be sure to stir often so the chocolate doesn’t burn or seize.
  • Fudge is a great make ahead treat because it can last in the fridge up to 2+ weeks in an airtight container OR be frozen!

FAQs

Why didn’t my fudge set?

Make sure to use regular sweetened condensed milk, not nonfat.

Why is my fudge grainy?

It may have been over cooked (just cook until the mixture is melted) or you may have accidentally used fat free sweetened condensed milk.

How long does fudge last?

If stored in an airtight container in the fridge, fudge will last 2+ weeks.

Can you freeze fudge?

Freeze fudge in an airtight container for up to 2+ months. It’s best if it’s not sliced when frozen, it’ll stay fresher.
