This 2 Ingredient Fudge is the ultimate dessert hack! Made with just a jar of frosting and a bag of chocolate chips, this creamy, decadent fudge takes only 5 minutes of prep and requires no stovetop or candy thermometer. Whether you need a quick holiday gift or a late-night sweet fix, this foolproof recipe is the easiest way to make homemade fudge that actually tastes like it came from a candy shop!

This recipe is made simply with frosting and chocolate chips. You can use any variation of these two ingredients, which makes it so fun to specialize your own fudge recipe! You can also add mix-ins like nuts, sprinkles, or peanuts to spice up your recipe! Not only is it just 2 ingredients, but it is heated in the microwave so you do not have to use a saucepan or the stove. With only 5 minutes of prep time, it’s so easy!
The secret to this easy fudge recipe is the high oil content in the canned frosting, which acts as the stabilizer when melted with the chocolate chips. Unlike traditional fudge that can be finicky and “seize” easily, this microwave method results in a silky-smooth texture every time. Plus, you can customize it with any flavor of frosting or chips the possibilities are endless!

Choosing the Best Frosting and Chips
- Chocolate Chips: Use any kind or flavor of dark chocolate chips or white chocolate chips you like.
- Why Canned Frosting? This recipe specifically relies on the stabilizers and fats found in store-bought shelf-stable frosting. I do not recommend using “whipped” frosting or homemade buttercream, as they lack the structure needed to set firm enough to slice.
- Variations: You can use white chocolate chips with vanilla frosting or regular chocolate chips with chocolate frosting, or you mix and match – they will always be tasty. Add any mix-ins too, like sprinkles, butterscotch chips, walnuts, peanuts or coconut to add to the creamy texture of the fudge! There are so many frosting flavors – like strawberry, lemon, coconut pecan frosting, and so many more! See below the recipe card for my flavor ideas.

Dorothy’s Expert Tips
- When stirring the frosting into the melted chips, do not whisk or beat too vigorously. You want to fold them together just until smooth. Incorporating too much air can cause the fudge to have a “spongy” texture rather than a dense, creamy set.
- If you make ahead of time, keep the fudge in the fridge – it gets softer than traditional fudge at room temperature.
- Slice the fudge into 1-inch squares with a sharp knife – it’s a super sweet treat so a little goes a long way.
- Leftover fudge keeps in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or you can freeze it for up to a month.

This is the best chocolate fudge I’ve ever had, Love your chocolate f!!udge
I had received this recipe from my brother and sister in law prior to reading this. They told me to try using peanut butter chips with cream cheese frosting. It was delicious! So now I will try using other flavors of frosting and “chips”. So easy and fast.
I love this a lot. delicious and easy
Attempted to use white chocolate chips Placed in micro Chips on bottom of bowl started to burn at
I placed for seconds at a time but no melting just top had gotten soft
Bought another bag only placed half bag in bowl , same thing
What kind of chocolate chips are they? I find that white chocolate can be so finicky. If you notice that’s happening you can make sure to lower the microwave to 50% power. I didn’t have that happen when I made this or another batch with white chocolate I did, but all microwaves are different.
