Happy Friday! I hope you’ve all had a great week.

1. I have this pipe dream, and I’d like to share it with you. I’ve made so many friendships while blogging. I feel like I actually know y’all. What’s so weird is that so many of you are such good friends…but we’ve never met. Wouldn’t it be totally cool to remedy that? I always hear about the “big” bloggers going to cool events or conferences and hanging out together, and I’ll admit, I get jealous, because they actually have met their bloggy friends. So, here’s my dream: some day we all plan a trip (not a conference, just a fun weekend) together. Somewhere in the middle of the country, since we’re spread all over. Denver? St. Louis? Chicago? Utah? I have no idea where. But would that be beyond awesome? I know it’s a dream…but hey, sometimes dreams come true. (Summer 2013, anyone?)

2. Okay, so this week I made you sugar. {No surprise there!}

I made you more stuff in a jar, because jars are way cuter than regular plates.

And I made you more ice cream. With crust. Because that’s how I roll.

I also made one last treat for the Fourth of July. Because I couldn’t help myself. In fact, here’s a round-up of all the patriotic treats I made this year:

Red, White, and Blue Cupcake Tops, Crumb Apple Pie, Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcakes, and Patriotic Nutella Cookie Dough Dipped Pretzels.

3. For this weeks’ Flashback Friday, I bring you my past patriotic treats:

Red, White, and Blue Cake Pops, Patriotic Cupcake Bites, and Spiral Cookies for the Fourth.

4. Blogland has been bathed in Red, White, and Blue lately. I love seeing it all, something about the colors makes me happy. Freedom and all that, I guess. (The fact that we, as bloggers, have the freedom to, well, blog?)

Here are some of my favs from the past month or so…

1. Flag Cake by Trilogy Edibles, 2. Chocolate Zucchini Donuts by Inside BruCrew Life, 3. Double Decker Flag Cookies by Munchkin Munchies, 4. Cheesecake Popsicles by Kitchen Meets Girl, 5. I love all these ideas!!

5. I have a tip for you: do not walk in the dark, with your hands full, in heels. Let’s just say I had forgotten how much it hurts to have a skinned knee, let alone two skinned knees, two skinned ankles, and it also doesn’t feel great when nail polish is removed with concrete. On a brighter note: I did not drop my phone.

6. Did anyone watch the season finale of RHOC on Tuesday? Wow. Okay, the girls might have overreacted about the bow, but that Sara chick, is she for real? I mean is she even a cast member? She has a blog on the Bravo site but was never really a full part of the show. And Brooks. He skeeves me out, am I the only one? And come on Bravo! Making us wait until the 10th to start the reunion shows??? Please.

7. Yes, I do watch shows besides those on Bravo. Totally. I watch The View. And The Soup. And Drop Dead Diva. But it is summer; Bravo is the only sustainable television right now. What are you watching? My hubs and I need some “together” shows, because, can you believe the RH of anywhere would not be his first choice?

8. Ann Curry. I feel bad for her, don’t you? I don’t watch Today as much as I used to, Jordan being 7 and all, makes it kind of hard to watch news about fires, wars, and generally bad people doing very bad things. I “read” Ann’s good-bye speech yesterday on closed captioning at the gym. I think she got a few digs to the network into her farewell. All the great work she did over 15 years…and they sack her because she’s not Meredith.

9. I finished the Crank trilogy. You all NEED to read it. I just started Divergent. So far, it’s good. Reminds me a little of Matched. What are you reading?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Do something fun and crazy. 🙂

Kisses!

  1. Just wanted to stop by and say hello. I sometimes do not comment, but I do read your posts. Stay cool!

    1. I’m glad you said hi! Oh, and I’m trying. It’s so hot here! Have a great week!

  2. I would join your girls weekend in a New York NANOSECOND…on one condition, you bring something with rolos. Amazing wrap up here as usual.

  3. What a fantastic patriotic round-up! And I feel awesome because you included TWO of my treats! :0) A blogger get together would be so much fun…my vote is for Utah, I have friends and in-laws there. Just finished reading Insurgent, but I was disappointed. I liked Divergent better.

  4. WOW! You’ve been busy, Dorothy!! Just figured out from this post one more thing we have in common … falling. Yup, I fall all the time. I’ve gotten VERY good at just laughing off the embarrassment!! I would love to meet all the bloggy folks! … my attendace would depend on where and when, though. Chicago … possibly. Southeast … definitely!

  5. I have the same pipe dream. Ya’ll are welcome to come to AK anytime you want. January, shall we say??
It seems especially silly that I’ve made military friends blogging and I can’t make military friends here!
I’ll have to read up on the Ann Curry thing. I really liked her. I mean, I couldn’t stand Meredith and I can’t believe they keep Al around..

  6. I’m totally in for a meet-up, and Chicago sounds awesome! Wait…am I invited?!? And oh, what an awesome treat for MY Friday to see my popsicles here! Thank you so much! Have a wonderful weekend, Dorothy!!

    1. You’re welcome Ashley! Chicago seems popular, so fun! Have a great weekend yourself!

  7. Thanks for including me in your round up! So many run ideas! I would love to do a meet-up! That sounds like a great idea. I admit, I would love to go to a big convention, however, I would feel the the freshman kid with leprosy in a sea of homecoming queens. I would never survive. Sorry, don’t watch RH anything… been stuck on Vampire Diaries on Netflix, but I’ll need a new show after this weekend. I’ll look into Crank on the kindle for a new book to read. Just finished “Water for Elephants”. Really not sure what all the hype was about on that book…

  8. Um– YES! A blogger get-together would be so fun!!! I’m always up for Utah since I’ve got fam there, and besides I’m kind of in love with it. But I’m seeing lots of Chicago votes– which would be cool too, and I could probably drive there! On that note– I MIGHT be trying to go to the Six Sister blog conference in SLC in Feb 2013– that could work too! Of course, hopefully I’ll get to see you and Hayley at Christmas time anyway 🙂

Round up is awesome! Wish I had done some 4th treats this year, but alas… too lazy!

Don’t fall anymore, please. I worry!

  9. Yes, let’s all meet up! and I vote Chicago 😉 Sorry about your fall, yikes!
I always get sucked into the RH shows to. Guilty pleasure 😉
I can’t wait to try t=your cookie dough pretzels!
