Watermelon Pizza is an easy summer recipe! This fresh fruit dessert pizza uses watermelon slices, whipped cream, and various fruits for topping. It’s easy to make and so sweet and yummy, especially when all the fruit is in season.

Looking for a simple yet satisfying lighter dessert for summer? My fruit pizza with watermelon slices is the way to go. It’s perfect for parties – make the whole watermelon into pizza slices – or make it as a single dessert when that sugar craving hits! I must admit, I’m not the biggest fan of watermelon (or fruit, for that matter), but making it like this will get me to eat it! The first time I tried watermelon with whipped cream? GAME CHANGER!

  • Super simple to make – it’s basically just fruit and whipped cream!
  • Vary the recipe to your tastes with different “sauces” and “toppings”
  • Perfect for a party – it’s so pretty everyone will love it!

How to make Watermelon Pizza

  • Watermelon: It’s best to buy a seedless watermelon for this recipe. You can buy regular size ones or mini watermelons – your choice. To pick the best watermelon, look for the large creamy yellow field spot.
  • Fresh Whipped Cream for the sauce: It’s easy to make homemade whipped cream and this is the “pizza sauce” for the dessert.

Topping Variations

The best part about my Watermelon Pizza recipe is that you can use what you love. Think about color when choosing fruit. Luckily, Raley’s O-N-E Market has a large produce section with lots to choose from.

Here are some ideas for different fruits to use:

  • Berries: Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, Blackberries
  • Dragonfruit
  • Mango
  • Kiwi
  • Cherries (pitted and cut in half)
  • Grapes (whole or halved)
  • Pineapple
  • Even peaches, apples, bananas will work!
  • You could even add some chopped pecans for crunch, or make it a savory watermelon pizza by using some feta cheese.

How to Cut a Watermelon into Pizza Slices

  1. Cut off the end of the watermelon. Then slice large rounds – be careful it doesn’t roll. It’s best to use a cutting board and a large knife.
  2. Slice the rounds about 1-2 inches thick.

Storing Instructions

  • To make for a party, buy a large watermelon. Frost it before the party and add the fruit – or let people make their own!
  • Fresh whipped cream is best made within 4 hours of serving (if you’re using another frosting recipe, you can make those up to 24 hours ahead).
  • Some fruit should’t be washed or cut until right before making the pizzas (i.e. strawberries) but you should be able to cut and gather all your fruit the same day you make the pizzas.
  • I don’t recommend assembling this the day before because fruit tends to weep overnight. However you can slice the watermelon the day before and store in the fridge in an airtight container.
