Sprinkle Pancakes are a great way to start your Saturday! Add some sprinkles to your pancake batter and watch your kids smile. Then freeze them for the week!

These Sprinkle Pancakes aren’t new to this blog. But please…don’t go looking for them. I beg of you.

They majorly needed a facelift because they seriously are my favorite pancakes ever to make on Saturday mornings.

You know what else I love to do on Saturday mornings? Check Facebook and drink coffee. That’s kind of hard to do while I’m frying pancakes. Pancakes take sooooo long to make. Pour, wait. Flip, wait. Repeat a gazillion times.

You know what I wish I could do while I’m waiting for my pancakes to cook? Blog. Check Facebook. Read about the latest celebrity meltdown.

And I can, thanks to my KICMount!

Using my KICMount, I can stick my iPad onto the fridge and surf the internet while I make pancakes in the morning. I can even catch up on The View, or play angry birds. Something to keep me from the boredom of pour, wait. Flip, repeat.

I’ve talked about the KICMount a lot here over the past few months. I use it in my kitchen all the time. It sticks on the fridge and my iPad is safe from spills. I can call up recipes so I don’t need to print them. My ulterior motive for printing these Sprinkle Pancakes again is so that I no longer need to dig through my stack of cookbooks for the recipe. I can just use my iPad and my KICMount to make my Saturday morning go a little easier.

{Weird, but I kinda liked it sideways. So I left it that way!}

You can see from the photos – there isn’t any syrup with these pancakes. I’ve trained my daughter – ask for sprinkles and you don’t need syrup! It saves about a bajillion calories, and she needs those for all the cookies I’ll bribe her with later in the day.

This is a super easy, quick pancake recipe. Throw in some sprinkles at the end and your plate will be way prettier!

Instructions

  • Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • Mash banana in a measuring cup until smooth. Add enough milk so that the milk + banana equals 1 ¼ cups of liquid. Whisk in oil and eggs.
  • Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and whisk to combine. Batter will be slightly lumpy. Stir in sprinkles just before cooking.
  • Preheat pan or griddle (to 350°F, if using an electric griddle). Cook pancakes on one side until bubbly, then flip until cooked through.
  • Serve with butter, more sprinkles, and syrup (optional).
  • Store leftovers in refrigerator or freeze for up to 1 month.
  • Note: the amount of pancakes you get will depend on the size you make them. I used 1/4 cup measuring cup to scoop my batter and got about 12 pancakes.

Recipe Notes

  • Regarding sprinkles: not all are created equal. Don’t use nonpareils (the little ball sprinkles) as they dissolve in liquid. It’s best to use “jimmies” or the traditional long sprinkles. Usually the brands you buy at the grocery store will hold up to batter. Cheap dollar store or amazon ones might not. Use your favorite colors!
  • You can use any kind of milk (dairy or nondairy)
  • Mash the banana in your measuring cup and add milk (stirring) until together they total 1 1/4 cups liquid.

  1. These are seriously gorgeous shots Dorothy! I love how fun they look! I usually do waffles instead of pancakes because I seem to have some sort of disaster every time I attempt them. Pretty sure because I don’t have nonstick cookware.

I love my Kicmount! Anything that saves me valuable counter space is a gem.

  2. That KICMount does look pretty spiffy 🙂 And the pancakes look awesome!

  3. My kids do backflips when I add so sprinkles to pancakes-it makes them gourmet in their opinion!

  4. What a great idea for a Mother’s day breakast in bed! HAVE A HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, DOROTHY! 🙂

  5. Ooh, I like the banana added. And sprinkles – yes ma’am! I’m going to have to try trading out the sprinkles for syrup
on my brothers. Maybe it only works for girls?:) Whatevs, these are ADORABLE and that mount looks incredible handy.

  6. I made sprinkles pancakes a couple weeks ago. Basically everything tastes better with sprinkles, right! 🙂
