Are you ready for some Football?
Honestly? I’m not really. Football is just…not my thing.
My husband? Is another story.
Last weekend he did his annual boys’ trip. He went to Arizona, where most of his “boys” reside.
The point of his trip? Fantasy Football.
If you remember last years’ post, he’s commissioner. He makes spreadsheets and graphs and watches NFL network like a crazy person in the weeks leading up to the draft. And, also, after, because God forbid Peyton Mannings’ receiver gets hurt before the season starts.
He actually won last year (go Merverts!) I hope that can be replicated this year. They play for money. (Mama needs a new camera.)

Of course, I immediately thought about Football themed treats when he started planning his insane weekend. And I knew just what to make; something he would love and not be able to refuse!
Nutella and peanut butter. (Aka, God’s gift to humanity.)
I made a peanut butter shortbread crust and baked the Nutella brownies on top. Soft and fudgy meets peanut buttery wonderful, if you ask me.
I cut out the footballs after they baked, then added the laces using white chocolate. My cookie cutter was large, so I only got about six footballs and I had lots of scraps that tasted sooooooo good. These are definitely a make-again-treat.

Way more entertaining than football! {But don’t tell hubby that!}
Brownie Recipe from Mother Thyme
Ingredients
- For the Crust
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- For the Brownies
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup Nutella
- Football Cookie Cutter
- 1/4 cup white chocolate chips, for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 9x13” pan with foil and spray with cooking spray.
- Make the crust: beat butter, peanut butter, and sugar until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Slowly mix in the flour and beat until combined. Press into the bottom of your prepared pan.
- Make the brownies: whisk flour and salt in a small bowl. Set aside. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy, then add eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Add Nutella and mix until creamy. Stir in flour mixture. Pour over the top of the crust and spread evenly with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-28 minutes. Cool completely before cutting.
- For footballs: Using a football shaped cookie cutter, cut the brownies. Melt the white chocolate chips and place in a ziploc bag. Snip off one corner and pipe the laces of the footballs. Let harden before stacking.

Hi there! I’m Dorothy, the crazy gal behind the blog. If you didn’t already know, I’m crazy for crust…and cookies…and brownies…and pretty much
anything with sugar.

Oh boy. These cookies (brownies?) would be inhaled in our household, where the two boys seem to dominate the living room like it will be bombarded by females wanting to watch bridal shows during the game (this MAY be based on a true situation…) But football or not, I totally want one. A brownie with a crust? I love you, man.
I love you too. Wish I would have given you some scraps. He got 6, I ate the rest.
I love football, Greys Anatomy, Peanut Butter and Nutella. Just not maybe in that order. Those look divine!
Ha! Me too.
I enjoy Steelers football and PSU football. And the general fall weather that surrounds football. But I don’t watch football just to watch football.
I would make these for a Dexter season premiere party. Hmmm….I could cut them into little knives lol.
LOL, that would be funny. I need to get Dexter on Netflix. I’ve always wanted to watch it. But my husband wouldn’t watch it with me. “Too gross!”
Bless you Kristin! I too am a PSU football fan. We have a tough year ahead of us…
So I’m hoping the Steelers season is another good one!!!
I heart PSU, just on principle. Why should the players be punished??? Now the Steeler’s…I may have to disagree. I’m a SF fan all the way, ha!
Thanks for visiting!
Brandon is at a Fantasy Football draft as we speak. I think the wives deserve these for all that we sacrifice during football season. YUM.
Um, yes. Yes we do!
These are perfect! I couldn’t care less about football, but peanut butter and brownies? Love! Plus they’re really cute
Me neither!
Thanks. PB & Nutella…I care about those.
These look amazing! By far the best/most delicious/creative “football brownie” I’ve ever seen!
Thanks Lindsay! That means a lot coming from you!
I feel the same way about football, uugh! But these brownies would make football easier to watch. If you want to hear about how much I like football and some other football snacks check out , http://strudelandstreusel.com/2012/01/27/soft-pretzel-bites/. Bring on the football fare!
Yes, I think the food is what makes football season do-able.
Thanks for visiting!
These are so cute! We have a husband/wife/significant other fantasy league and it’s hilarious! During the draft we girls started talking about guliana ransic having her baby, hehehe. Drives the men crazy.
Too funny, I could see the conversation going there and the steam coming out of the men’s ears! Ha!
Super Cute! I used to love football when I was in high school. I don’t really follow it anymore but it is the one sport I could sit and watch.
we are a football loving family – I can see these treats in my not so distant future:)
These were so delicious and before I ever pulled them out at the draft people were asking me if you made something for them to munch on. they were a big hit and I may have kept one in my hotel room for after the draft. A little selfish of me I know!
Well, if it was me, no one would have gotten any. So, um, not selfish.
<3
Oh man! I am in trouble now! These look to die for!
By the way…I love the updated blog. Did you switch it to wordpress yourself or did someone do it for you? I’ve been thinking of changing mine over too.
Hugs…Angi
Thanks Angi! I did up the site myself and had someone move me. I’m planning to do a few posts about it…of course!
Wow, perfect!
Thanks!
It’s all sooooooooooooooooooo cute & yummy-liscious!
Thank you!
Dorothy you amaze me every time
I love your taste! These are super
Lucky me my other-half doesn’t like football (actually here football is what you call socker . The kind of football that you have is not familiar here), but he would definitely love these awesome treats
I bet the feeling about your soccer is the same as our football – insane! Sports can make someone crazy everytime, ha. Thanks so much Winnie!
I need to buy a football cookie cutter…even my daughter is a huge football fan. I’m surrounded :/ You have so many cute ideas for the season!
Thanks Liz!
At least my daughter feels the same way I do, ha!
These look absolutely delish! Great job! Would love if you’d join our Countdown to Fall link party! Hope to see you there! Happy Labor Day!

Thanks Crystal! It’s a double edged sword, ha!
I’m actually a crazed football fan. I know, it’s kind of weird for such a girlie-girl, but I LOVE IT. And these brownie/cookies/big hunks of awesomeness would be a complete hit at our tailgate parties! I’m going to have to make some of these to wow my group!
I hope you enjoy. Hunks of awesomeness kinda describes them perfectly!
These look delicious! I am definitely going to make them for the first A&M football game this weekend! I’ve always loved football, it’s a very Texas thing I guess
I hope you enjoy them!
So excited for football! Love Nutella and brownies! Going to have to try this!
