Happy Friday! I hope you’ve all had a great week.

1. I have this pipe dream, and I’d like to share it with you. I’ve made so many friendships while blogging. I feel like I actually know y’all. What’s so weird is that so many of you are such good friends…but we’ve never met. Wouldn’t it be totally cool to remedy that? I always hear about the “big” bloggers going to cool events or conferences and hanging out together, and I’ll admit, I get jealous, because they actually have met their bloggy friends. So, here’s my dream: some day we all plan a trip (not a conference, just a fun weekend) together. Somewhere in the middle of the country, since we’re spread all over. Denver? St. Louis? Chicago? Utah? I have no idea where. But would that be beyond awesome? I know it’s a dream…but hey, sometimes dreams come true. (Summer 2013, anyone?)

2. Okay, so this week I made you sugar. {No surprise there!}

I made you more stuff in a jar, because jars are way cuter than regular plates.

And I made you more ice cream. With crust. Because that’s how I roll.

I also made one last treat for the Fourth of July. Because I couldn’t help myself. In fact, here’s a round-up of all the patriotic treats I made this year:

Red, White, and Blue Cupcake Tops, Crumb Apple Pie, Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcakes, and Patriotic Nutella Cookie Dough Dipped Pretzels.

3. For this weeks’ Flashback Friday, I bring you my past patriotic treats:

Red, White, and Blue Cake Pops, Patriotic Cupcake Bites, and Spiral Cookies for the Fourth.

4. Blogland has been bathed in Red, White, and Blue lately. I love seeing it all, something about the colors makes me happy. Freedom and all that, I guess. (The fact that we, as bloggers, have the freedom to, well, blog?)

Here are some of my favs from the past month or so…

1. Flag Cake by Trilogy Edibles, 2. Chocolate Zucchini Donuts by Inside BruCrew Life, 3. Double Decker Flag Cookies by Munchkin Munchies, 4. Cheesecake Popsicles by Kitchen Meets Girl, 5. Red, White, and Blue Fun-Da-Middles by Pint Sized Baker17. American Flag Cupcakes by Couponing and Cooking18. Patriotic Blow Pop Drink by Dip It In Chocolate

I love all these ideas!!

5. I have a tip for you: do not walk in the dark, with your hands full, in heels. Let’s just say I had forgotten how much it hurts to have a skinned knee, let alone two skinned knees, two skinned ankles, and it also doesn’t feel great when nail polish is removed with concrete. On a brighter note: I did not drop my phone.

6. Did anyone watch the season finale of RHOC on Tuesday? Wow. Okay, the girls might have overreacted about the bow, but that Sara chick, is she for real? I mean is she even a cast member? She has a blog on the Bravo site but was never really a full part of the show. And Brooks. He skeeves me out, am I the only one? And come on Bravo! Making us wait until the 10th to start the reunion shows??? Please.

7. Yes, I do watch shows besides those on Bravo. Totally. I watch The View. And The Soup. And Drop Dead Diva. But it is summer; Bravo is the only sustainable television right now. What are you watching? My hubs and I need some “together” shows, because, can you believe the RH of anywhere would not be his first choice?

8. Ann Curry. I feel bad for her, don’t you? I don’t watch Today as much as I used to, Jordan being 7 and all, makes it kind of hard to watch news about fires, wars, and generally bad people doing very bad things. I “read” Ann’s good-bye speech yesterday on closed captioning at the gym. I think she got a few digs to the network into her farewell. All the great work she did over 15 years…and they sack her because she’s not Meredith.

9. I finished the Crank trilogy. You all NEED to read it. I just started Divergent. So far, it’s good. Reminds me a little of Matched. What are you reading?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Do something fun and crazy. 🙂

Kisses!

  1. LOVE your roundup!! Patriotic food is so fun, thanks for including me! I’m so intrigued to go check out your patriotic cookie dough.

    1. I loved that drink! Must make it for my kid, she loves “grown up drinks” now. 🙂

  2. Yes, we should totally do a bloggy meet up! Chicago would be fun 🙂 big cities rule. Let’s plan it!! Thanks for featuring my recipes 🙂 so many red, white and blue treats and can you believe it’s Wednesday? Geez. Also: RHOC. WTF. Sarah is a poster-child to say no to drugs, seriously. She is beyond words PSYCHOTIC. And uh, addicted. And Brooks is gross and I despise him and really am disgusted by Vicki choosing his side and not even her daughter’s. It bothers me that whenever Brianna talks about her feelings toward Brooks and stuff, Vicki will immediately shut her down and then blanket “I love yous” all over Brianna. Ew! I love yous don’t work like that, you know? It sickens me. Anyway, can’t wait for our reunion drinking party!!

    1. Chicago, YES!!! Meanwhile, I’m inviting myself to join in your drinking reunion party, mkay?

    2. Yes Stephanie! You must come. 🙂 I can’t wait to watch it. Chicago would be SO much fun!

  3. HUGE recipe round up is right! I just spent about 20 minutes clicking through almost each recipe, Dorothy! 5 – i drop my phone every time i fall. this is my 4th iPhone in 1 year. I’m not joking. I’m BEYOND clumsy. Consider yourself lucky girl!

    1. WOW! I can be pretty clumsy too…case in point. I’m glad I managed to hold onto it. 🙂 Thanks for reading Sally!

  4. For a foodie gathering, no question: Chicago. Such a great post today and I’ve enjoyed every single one of your 4th-inspired treats!! I’m sorry you fell, though…Have a great 4th!!!!

  5. Dorothy
What a great collection of 4th of July foods.

Don’t feel bad about falling. I tripped going up some cement stairs in May. I needed 6 stitches and had one huge black eye.

Hope your weekend is a great one!

    1. Ouch! I just feel bad for always telling my kid to “walk it off.” It hurts! LOL. Have a great weekend Robyn!

  6. I think a bloggy meet up is an awesome idea!!! I would love to meet all of my fabulous blog friends!!! Loving your fun 4th roundup…thank you so much for including my donuts. It was fun surprise this morning!!! And yikes to getting your nail polish attacked by the concrete…not a fun way to end the week, but kudos for holding onto your phone and keeping that safe! Have a great weekend my friend!!!
