I’m a huge believer in shortcuts, especially around the holidays when there are already a million things to do. Not every festive recipe needs to be complicated to be worth making, and this is one of those recipes that proves it. Halloween Snack Mix only has 3 ingredients and no baking required, so it’s an easy last-minute party snack that tastes a little like a Payday candy bar.

This Halloween Snack Mix is sweet, salty, crunchy, and chewy and you just toss everything together and it’s ready to serve. The combination of salty peanuts, chewy candy corn, and cereal treats give you a little bit of everything in each handful. It’s perfect for Halloween parties, movie nights, or just leaving out in a bowl for everyone to snack on.

How to Make Halloween Snack Mix

  • Candy corn – I just use the regular candy corn, but there are so many flavored options now that could be good, too! You could even use the candy pumpkins.
  • Peanuts – It’s up to you if you want to use salted or unsalted peanuts.
  • Rice Krispies Treats – Buy them premade to save on time and cut them into bite size pieces.

    Variations

You can easily make your own homemade Rice Krispies Treats for this recipe if you’d like. I just don’t always have the time, so I prefer to buy them already made and ready to go.

Also, while I totally understand that this is a Halloween recipe, you can easily change it up for other holidays! I’ll sometimes make this for Christmas and add red and green M&M’s in place of candy corn, and it’s always a hit! Have fun with the way you can change it up!

    Dorothy’s Testing Notes

If you get salted peanuts to combine with the other ingredients, the party mix recipe is going to taste identical to a PayDay candy bar!

    FAQs

How do you store this Halloween party mix?

As long as you store this mixture in an airtight container, it will last for up to 2 weeks! It can be kept at room temperature without issue.

    Can I double the recipe?

Absolutely! You can easily double or triple this recipe without any problems at all. This makes it super simple to make for a group!
You can also halve the recipe easily. I do this sometimes when it’s just me snacking on it – because otherwise, I’ll eat the entire batch.

Can I use other types of nuts?

I’ve only ever added peanuts because I really love the taste and flavor. But I do think that other nuts would taste great. Cashews are always a great idea, and walnuts are a winning choice as well.
I would stay away from harder nuts like almonds just because some people may not like the hard texture.

    1. I worked in childcare for 20 years or so but oh snap, crackle & pop that candy corn snack mix! I’m a huge fan of candy corn. Wayyyyyy back in the day we would bite each later then get to the white part and fake we broke a tooth. Super funny when your 8! Oh I’m also a huge fan of those little candy pumpkins…. ?

    2. Wait! What?!? Candy corn and peanuts? Is that the magic combo that allows one to cross over to candy corn land? Ugh! But do I NEED to cross over into candy corn land? Yeah. Probably not. But now I know about it so now I’m gonna have to try it 🙂
