Whatever Friday

Happy Friday! Whatcha been up too this week? Hot weather? Cocktails? Come on peeps, I want to hear all about it.

Oh? You want to hear about my week? Well, don’t mind if I do.

1. This week I…

Introduced you to my favorite childhood combo: cereal and ice cream.

Celebrated my hubby’s birthday with peanut butter explosion.

Aaaannnd…confessed my love for avocados.

{Speaking of strange avocado recipes that may you do a double take…have you entered the Unique Sweets Party that’s being hosted by White Lights on Wednesday and My Happy Place? You still have a couple days! A party full of unique, different, or challenging sweets, judged by an awesome panel of judges. And there are prizes! Go check it out!}

2. Jordan had dance camp all week. She could not wait to go each day. If only she could be that excited for school! If only I could sign her up for it every week…three hours of dancing…three hours of silence for me…

3.  Hayley and I had a two-part Real Housewives of Orange County viewing party this week, complete with midori lemonade cocktails. Those women are whack. I mean, if you’re really friends with someone, do you need to keep the emails you write them for proof that you were telling the truth? It was like a big hair convention gone bad.

4. Seriously nothing funny is happening to me. I’m out of stories. Got any good ones for me?

5. This week’s Flashback Friday is a special one.

Anniversary Cheesecake with Macadamia Nut Crust. I posted it a year ago. For my 10th anniversary. This weekend is our 11th. That kind of makes me feel old.

6. Because my parents totally rock, they are taking Jordan for the weekend so we can celebrate our anniversary alone. We’re not going anywhere; just having a quiet weekend alone. We did decide to do something a little adventurous (for me) on Sunday. It’s going to cross off one of my goals for the year. Expect Instagram photos…

7. Do you watch Drop Dead Diva? That chick created a Pake! (Pie + Cake) I’m sooooo jealous. Is it wrong to copy a TV show?

8. Just a little light reading for the next few weeks:

I finished the 50 Shades Darker (better than the first, has an actual plot) and Tricks (jeez, a little depressing, but good). A couple library books just came in too…so I don’t know where to go next. The dark side or the sexy side?

What are you reading?

I hope you all have a great weekend! My goal is to stay away from the computer until Monday afternoon. (Yeah, right.)

See you soon!

  1. Dorothy, Happy Anniversary!!! Enjoy every moment of your peaceful weekend and can’t wait to see what you do on Sunday. I’ve been debating about the Fifty Shades series, I’ve heard conflicting reviews. Right now I’m reading everything from Kristen Hannah, kinda reminds me of Nicolas Sparks.
Oh and my hubby has been doing Captain Crunch and Ice Cream forever, lol, that’s the only reason I buy the stuff (not really, every now and then I might sneak a bowl after everyone’s asleep, maybe.)

  2. Go 50 Shades Sexy! I loved that trilogy! Glad to see I’m not the only crazy person in blog world that has nothing funny to talk about. I’ve had to take a couple of weeks off just to regroup and let life happen! Hope you have a great weekend!!

  3. Happy Anniversary, Dorothy! Hope you have a great weekend together.

  4. Happy Anniversary, Dorothy and Mel! Glad Darker was better…Better?! Wow…I CAN’T wait, now! I’m finishing the first Hunger Games this weekend. Enjoy your quiet weekend!! 🙂

  5. Happy Anniversary to you & Mel! Congrats on the weekend alone 🙂 midori cocktails for you and him, methinks? Haha. Thanks for the fun Real Housewives party time. Wishing they’d release a bonus third installment so we could have more taquitos and another chance to judge ruthlessly. I guess we’ll settle for RHBH when it returns. And I’m glad you liked Tricks! Definitely depressing but so so good. Identical is suspenseful–you’ll love it! But maybe take a depressing break and try a sexy break, then lemme borrow them please?! 🙂

  6. Happy Anniversary!!! Enjoy the quiet weekend with your hubby! Can’t wait to see what fun thing you are going to mark off your list:-)

  7. I’ll look up Hopkins and make a trip to the library this weekend. (nerd alert)
    Have a relaxing anniversary weekend!
And if you go sit in a place where you can people-watch, you might come up with some blog material! 🙂

  8. This is my first time stopping by, and I’m already in love! Cereal Milkshakes? Deep Dish Peanut Butter Cookie Pie? Really?? It’s all too delicious to be true!

  9. Oh enjoy your time alone together! Happy anniversary! Can’t wait to hear whats happening on Sunday 🙂 boy I wish I could read like that again. Not enough hours in the day… I love a depressing book, is that strange??

  10. Bahhhhhh! I LOVE the new look!! Good job 🙂 How proud are you?!?!

  11. Love the week re-cap!! Have a SUPER time this anniversary weekend! – HUGS.

  12. Looks like your week is rocking! Thanks for sharing it with us.

P.S. I agree the 2nd book 50 shades darker is better than the first.

  13. Ok, so I haven’t started the 50 Shades of Grey yet, but what is the other series you’re reading? I love reading series, and I haven’t gotten into a good one lately.

Whatever Friday

It’s Friday! *Happy Dance*

Today I am (finally) painting my office. I mean, I’ve only been saying I’ll do it “next week” since we moved in last October. Finally, finally I will be able to get organized instead of having strategic “piles” all over the guest bed. (My organizational system is going to be a lot of shelves and hanging files, hence the need to paint first.) Photos to come…eventually. I promise. And I’m sure there will be a lot of “there’s paint all over my feet” Instagram photos. Aren’t you excited?

This week I did a lot of stuff.

1. I gave you sinful donuts and visuals of teachers attacking each other with pencils:

2. I talked about my cat barf facial:

3. And more about my pickiness:

Go check them out. I’ll wait.

Geez, I’m kinda in a demanding mood. Sounds like I’m taking lessons from my cat.

4. I got Jordan’s softball pictures this week. When they were taken there was a huge rainstorm, so they had to be moved indoors.

Where, obviously, they were photographing Time Travel Softball. {Seriously, where do they even get those backgrounds?}

5. You know that toolbar on the bottom of my page? The Sac Connect one? They just installed a new version, and it has share buttons and stuff, pretty cool. However, if you’re not into toolbars, you can close it by clicking on the right side and selecting “Hide Meebo Bar.”

6. I will leave you with this picture of Callie. The look on her face pretty much sums up her attitude about life.

The dog? So jealous she almost can’t help herself.

Have a great weekend y’all! Hopefully by tonight will not be a “Turquoise Mist” smurf. It’s always a hazard when I’m painting a room. Because, well, I’m not neat.

Oh, and if you still want to link something sweet up to Crazy Sweet Tuesday, the party is on through tonight. So what are you waiting for?

  1. I love your whatever Friday series! You are to funny!

  2. Ha that back ground is awesome, we should get one and use it for our food pics. Then we can start a blog about time traveling treats. What? It would be amazing! And your kid and mine could be the mascots because they are so cute!

  3. SO funny 🙂

I’m so jealous you have an office. I need one SO bad. Ugh. But my husband will probably be in school forever. And we’ll live in a 2 bedroom apartment forever. And we’ll have to cram our 10 children into drawer-beds all Kramer-style.

I think I need chocolate now. At least I’m in the right place for that!!

  4. Hilarious stuff!!! Can’t wait for all the pics! I don’t like painting at all so I let my husband do it…that or I’m just lazy and I use the messy excuse to get out of it:-) I have a hallway closet that I really want painted but he will not do anymore painting so it is up to me. So…it still isn’t painted!!! Maybe all your pics will inspire me to pick up a roller!!! And time travel softball…too funny!!!

  5. I was watching an American decorating show today where two UK guys were doing this southwestern ranch and they painted the living room turquoise. You know, turkwhazzz. Every time they said it that way I could feel my eyes rolling around.

Can’t wait for the photos but I will say turkwhazzz out loud when I look at them and laugh.

I need inspiration to do the same thing. I need to be better organized.

  6. Best of luck with the painting! I’d rope my husband into helping me. Or doing it for me. 🙂
If you think the backgrounds are bad, you should see the photographers on school picture day getting the kids to pose. Last month, it took 90 minutes to take individual pictures. I hope you didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg for pictures of Jordan cruising through outer space!

  7. Cute baseball picture.

What yummy desserts! you have me drooling all over my computer.

  8. I love the recap..I am still dreaming on those donuts…………………..

  9. Your daughter is so cute! And your cat looks like a total badass … even the dog knows it’s true.
    Happy painting!

  10. I like to think I keep up with all the blogs I follow. But every week when I see your recap…. I’m like oh man how did I miss that recipe! Seriously those donuts. Ridiculous.

  11. Great photos! I had to tell the photographer when Nick got his senior photos that I would not be purchasing any of the pictures with the fake library backgrounds :/ And your sweet kitty does look like she has some attitude…LOL. Good luck with the painting!

  12. I’m in love with those chocolate doughnuts! I’d love it if you would share this post on my Southern Sundays linky party today. http://www.asliceofsouthern.blogspot.com

    Hope to see you there!

  13. Your desserts look amazing! Your son is so cute; that is too funny about the background:)

Whatever Friday

1. My daughter is a Daisy Scout. Which means one thing: I am she is selling Girl Scout Cookies. I think it’s evil they start selling them so long before we get them. Gets me wanting them so bad that by the time they come in next month I inhale a box in two seconds flat.

2. I wrote my 200th post on Monday. I celebrated with something healthy.

3. Then I followed it up with something … not.

4. I’m on the PTC at my daughter’s elementary school. I do hospitality (goodies for the teachers). Somehow I managed to say “yes” to being in charge of food for the Spring fundraiser, Bingo Night. Obviously I have no idea what the word “no” means. Or the sentence “you must think I’m insane.” Hilarity to ensue, expect blog posts to come.

5. Is it weird to have blogging crushes? I totally have a few. I even refer to these blogs and their authors as “my crush.” To my husband. He thinks it’s funny. (I think?)

6. Halfway though melting crayons in my silicone mini muffin pan, I thought that maybe I should have used liners. Does anyone have any tricks for getting the whites residue out of a pan? Or is the solution to go shopping?

7. One last thing…I know a lot of you are East Coasters. I’m a San Francisco girl, through and through. I won’t go as far as to say I bleed red and gold, but my heart is definitely there. So…GO NINERS!

Have a great weekend everyone!
