Gahhh these photos make me miss Hawaii. I love Hawaii…the palm trees, the ocean, and allllll the fruity pineapple drinks. Hawaii gets me.

Since I can’t be in Hawaii, I’m going to bring the islands to me. I’ll sit by the pool playing ocean waves on my white noise app and drinking Hawaiian cocktails like these margaritas and Hawaiian Martinis.

Oh yes, I said Hawaiian Martinis. Did you know I have several Hawaiian drink recipes? It all started with my Hawaiian Mimosa, then spread to my champagne punch and the martinis. Oh, and let’s not forget my Maui-inspired Island Breeze Cocktail!

It seems that, whenever I reach for my cocktail shaker, I have pineapple on the brain. Funny, since I don’t even like pineapple, but in drinks? Gimme alllll the pineapple juice!

We could call this drink so many things: Hawaiian Margaritas, Hawaiian Margarita Punch, a Maui Margarita…but I’m calling it delish.

And that’s a lot coming from someone who no longer drinks tequila very often! (AHEM.)

Okay, so what’s in a Hawaiian Margarita?

(Oh, you mean between the sand and the sunshine?)

Just a few ingredients needed to take Taco Tuesday to the beach:

  • Tequila
  • Triple Sec
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Lime Juice
  • Coconut Water

I had to add the coconut in there somewhere or else these would just be pineapple margaritas. I had the idea to grab a box of coconut water at the grocery store and I love the flavor it adds to this cocktail and makes it more tropical.

On an afterthought I added the lime juice, which seems weird, but really changes the cocktail to amazing. Before it was good, with the lime juice it was fantastic.

How to make a tropical Hawiian Margarita

What kind of tequila goes in a margarita?

My favorite kind of tequila is silver or blanco (the clear kind) but you could use traditional if you prefer. Use a brand you’d drink in a basic margarita!

Where do you buy coconut water?

Almost every grocery store carries coconut water these days. When I was looking for a coconut option I saw they had coconut water with coconut puree and pineapple flavor, so that’s the one I used. If you look at the specialty water aisle you’ll see the coconut water choices abound, so choose one that sounds good.

Can you make these a frozen margarita?

You can, but I haven’t tried it. To make them frozen, use frozen pineapple chunks in place of ice. You’ll probably still need to add some juice to hep it blend.

Even better would be to serve these on the rocks with frozen pineapple instead of ice so the drinks don’t get watered down.

I’ve included recipes for both single cocktails or a pitcher. Sometimes you just want a margarita with dinner but now that the weather is warmer entertaining abounds!

I’m always on the look for fantastic party punch recipes and this is one of the good ones!

Sip away and picture yourself on a beach in the tropics!

  1. Do you always use fresh squeezed lime juice for pitchers? We have a party of 200 people so I’m wondering if store bought with greatly affect the flavour?

    Thank you!
