If you didn’t already know, I’m writing a cookbook! Crazy for Cookies, Brownies and Bars will be out in spring 2022, published by Quarto/Harvard Common Press.

This post is a little behind the scenes look at how the book is coming – it’s so close to being done (the first version, that is).

I’ve done all my own photos for this book, except for a few lifestyle ones done by a local photographer.

Most importantly, every recipe in the book will have it’s own photo! That was a huge deal to me because people eat with their eyes first.

I’ve learned a TON about photography over the last few months. I used to hate overhead photos but now I absolutely love them.

Behind the Scenes: Lifestyle Photography

I needed an author headshot plus I wanted some photos in the book that I just couldn’t take myself: of me cooking, holding platters of cookies, etc.

I have a fabulous local photographer (True Love Photo) who I work with often. Beth has taken all of my headshots and many of the lifestyle social media photos on my Instagram for the last several years. She came over earlier this week to do a huge lifestyle shoot.

Here are some fun behind the scenes pics of us doing the shoot:

Then she added 2 more jars to my hands lol!

The confetti was everywhere!

I got my core workout in – I held that pose for about 5 minutes!

And yes even ABBY has a starring role in the book! There are three easy homemade dog cookies – and she loves all of them.

I am so excited about this book – I’m working on writing right now. Soon I’ll update you about that!
