Getting older is kinda sucky at times, don’t you think? I mean, I’m happy to be the age I am (I’m even looking forward to 40), but there are things that come with age that are just not fair. Things like worsening eyesight, creaky knees, waking up with aches and pains, slower metabolism, wetting oneself at random times, etc.

While some of these things *may* have happened to me in the past, the one thing I hate  about aging is motion sickness. You know how they say “kids grow out of that”? Well guess what? They don’t always grow out of it.

Carousels are a given, I haven’t been able to handle those for years. Driving in the backseat – that’s a no-no for me. But hey, so is driving. I never knew you could feel motion sick while actually operating a vehicle.

Swinging on the swings? Nope!

Dancing that involves spinning? Uh-uh.

And the newest addition to my list? Looking from side to side while working out. Yes, folks, while I was using a machine to do some sort of row exercise, the trainer had me look left when I pulled left, look right when I pulled right, etc. And I almost threw up on him.

He let me look straight for the rest of the sets. #smartman

Pesky metabolism aside, one thing I do like about time passing is that all the Hershey’s Kisses holiday flavors are coming out. Like these Pumpkin Spice Kisses. They really do taste like pumpkin spice mixed with white chocolate. #sogood #toogood

And they are the perfect complement for Oatmeal Cookies…so I thought I’d make some Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal Cookie Cups!

Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal Cookie Cups | crazyforcrust.com | The perfect combination for Fall!

I really, really love oatmeal cookies. I think they’re actually my favorite cookie, so it’s so strange I don’t have very many of them on my site.

{Y’all love peanut butter so much, I get sidetracked easily!}

So I’m going to start remedying the whole absent oatmeal cookie thing, starting today!

Oatmeal pairs so good with pumpkin spice and white chocolate, so I knew these cookies would be the total bomb. The oatmeal cookie is soft and full of brown sugar and cinnamon goodness. I baked them in mini muffin tins (just pressed about 1-1/2 tablespoons of dough in each slot) and then pressed the Hershey’s Kisses in as soon as they come out of the oven.

Be careful after you’ve added the Kisses – if you move the pan too much you run the risk of them collapsing. They melt, but hold they’re shape, after you press them in, and until they harden they’re fragile. So press them in each cookie, then walk away.

You know what other Kisses would be amazing with this? Caramel. Or the Coconut ones in Spring. {A plea to Hershey’s: PLEASE make the coconut kisses available year round! Thanks much!}

These cookie cups are a little dangerous. As in, you can pop down four without even blinking an eye.

And it won’t make you dizzy, I promise. Unless you’re eating them while swinging. Or operating a vehicle.

Or exercising. Whatever. :)

Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal Cookie Cups

Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal Cookie Cups

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Quick Oats
  • 24 Pumpkin Spice Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped (have a few extra, just in case)

  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Spray two mini muffin mans (24 total cavities) with cooking spray. I like using the kind with flour, to ensure they do not stick.
  2. Cream butter and sugars in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix in baking soda and cinnamon. Slowly beat in flour. Mix in oats.
  3. Scoop balls of dough into prepared pans. I used about 1 to 1-1/2 tablespoons of dough per muffin cavity. Press gently into pan.
  4. Bake for about 10-11 minutes, until the tops are golden. As soon as you remove the pans from the oven, press one Kiss into each cookie. Let cool completely before moving the pans. If you move the pans too much while the Kisses are melty, they will collapse. Once the Kisses have re-hardened, remove cookies from pan.

Use Caramel Kisses, or your favorite flavor to change up the cookie!

I found my Pumpkin Spice Kisses at Target.

  1. Id be willing to down at least 4 while swinging, operating a vehicle or, dare I say it exercising, and be willing to suffer the consequences.

  2. I was at Target yesterday and had my hands on the bag of those Kisses but put them back b/c really….they are just WAY too good! :) Your cookies are adorable. And in a muffin tin, clutch move. They don’t spread that way and no need to chill dough.

And when I was pregnant I was sick the WHOLE time. Like 38 weeks of motion sickness. It’s no joke and I hope yours doesn’t get worse!

  3. shoot me now! before I get ahold of those cookies! YUMMMMMM!

  4. Love the idea of putting them in oatmeal cups : ) Pumpkin spice kisses are the best.

  5. Dorothy,
I was just hospitalized for vertigo just as you have. My inner ear “stones” were displaced.
There is a maneuver on Youtube, you might try. No guarantees you wont throw up. But it will only be once.
I also take Dramamine to be able to tolerate flying and driving in heavy traffic. Best of luck with it!

Love these Oatmeal Cookie Cups! Cant wait to make em!

  6. Such a great idea for the Fall and Halloween season, Dorothy! I just adore oatmeal cookies, too. Thanks for sharing, girl. Pinned!

  7. I love cookie cups! They are easy and you get more bang for your buck! LOL! I have yet to try those kisses, but they are on my list for the store tomorrow! These look awesome!

  9. I even get sick on a swing – NO lie :) but these cookies are to die for – LOVE the pic with the bite missing

  10. I’m going to have to keep my eyes open for these Kisses in my store. I don’t live near Target, and I hardly ever go out there. I always miss out on the Target only treats. I’m hoping they’ll have these at my neighborhood Safeway. Oatmeal does seem like the perfect pairing. Can’t wait to try them.

  13. I remember those Hershey’s Kisses from last fall. You’re right — they are delicious! I love oatmeal cookies, too, and I’m always looking for new recipes for those times when I want something a little different than the standard oatmeal chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin variant. Can’t wait to try these!

  15. Now that I am have passed the 40 mark, I can say that you are absolutely correct! I hate my extra pounds that I cannot lose, the body is shifting downwards, my memory is non existent and I probably need stronger glasses! The whole motion sickness thing really stinks! But I still have strong taste buds and they would be very happy with these cookies!

  16. Sorry to tell you, but it doesn’t get any better after 40 either. I can’t even watch the carousel go around with losing it!

  17. Granted, I’m still much younger than you, but I kow what you are saying! I used to not get carsick while readng in the car and this past year I have been. What is that? I can still do most rollercoasters though ….
Bless your heart Dorothy! Thats a horrible feeling! Working out and feeling sick? Not fun. But hey, these sure look good! Oatmeal cookies are such a staple and I need to get my hands on some of those Kisses. What a fantastic way to make desserts themed! And wait, did you say coconut? Where have I been?!

  21. So funny, I have a cookie cup with those Kisses coming onto the blog in a few weeks:-) I love that you used an oatmeal dough, though, because I’m pretty sure that should be slow metabolism friendly;-) Oh, and I can NOT turn my head too often when on a treadmill, omg…

  22. Love those Pumpkin Spice Cookies and the combo with the oatmeal cookie. Yum. My favorite are the candy cane kisses that come out at Christmas – can’t wait!

  23. I get terrible motion sickness, I always have all my life! Sucks! But, no matter how motion sick I might be I pretty certain I could shove these in my face by the dozens!

  25. No question, Dorothy, getting older sucks but the alternative is worse. :) Motion sickness is awful. Try sucking on a ginger candy when you are in the car. Ginger doesn’t help me when I am already feeling sick but it does help me minimize the nausea. Having to put on glasses to read text messages is no fun either. :) The anticipation of seasonal foods and candies IS fun! The combination of oatmeal cookie and creamy pumpkin spice kisses is great! Really, kisses of any flavor would be delicious in these cookie cups!

  26. Ohh shoot! I don’t have a Target store near me so I’ll have to look elsewhere. Maybe Walmart or Kroger will carry them! I love pumpkin anything and oatmeal cookies…YES!!! I think I’ll make a batch while no one is looking. ;)

  27. I don’t have motion sickness, but I cannot do spinning rides at all! I end up with a massive headache the entire day if I even try. I have noticed that any kind of ride gives me headaches too…must be that stinking old thing because roller coasters never used to bother me. You and I are totally on the same page for baking…I just made cookie cups with these kisses too…just a different flavor :-) You know what they say about great minds ;-)

  34. These cookies are too cute, Dorothy, and I totally empathize on your motion sickness! I’ve always suffered from it, too, and the other day I came down with a case of vertigo (for the first time) that lasted the whole day. I had to crawl around on the floor with the baby until my husband got home because I was afraid of falling down if I tried to stand up! I really think that blogging and spending so much time looking at a computer screen doesn’t help, but what can you do? Ugh…hope you get a reprieve from yours and that it doesn’t get worse!

Much appreciated such creative delicious ideas

  38. I just found this recipe and immediately made these. You are so right on with your instruction to wait until they are completely cool before moving them. I thought mine were cool “enough” to move and when I had moved 5 or 6 of them I noticed the kisses were collapsing. I left them alone for now. Can’t wait to see how they taste. Now I am going over to Bru Crew Life to see what hers are all about. thank you for this recipe.

    • Yep, that’ll happen. I think the other flavors aren’t as stable as the regular chocolate kisses (because I don’t ever remember that happening when I make peanut butter blossoms!) Thanks for trying them out!

  39. These looks wonderful! I take antihistamines twice per day so I don’t get car sick.

  40. Dorothy, what a gorgeous cookie! Pinning it onto my Fall Pumpkin Desserts collection!

  42. I saw the Pumpkin Spice Kisses at the store last week and was really tempted to buy a bag. I hadn’t tried them before, but I actually walked away… Shocker!! I always splurge for chocolate! I had no idea that the insides were white. And you’re so smart to pair them with an oatmeal cookie. Sounds like a match made in heaven!

  43. Made these this past weekend. Very nice pairing. The oatmeal cookie part was delicious all by itself. I will make these again and use the Reese’s miniatures, or Carmel kisses or regular chocolate kisses or maybe all of them! Keeping this one for sure. Thanks for sharing!
Note: I put the mini muffin pan in the fridge for 15 minutes after inserting the kisses, then just give the cookie a little twist and they pop right out of the pan.

  44. Yummy! I just made these today with the kids. We hid the hershey kiss inside the cookie instead of putting it on top. So cute, with a surprise inside. Thanks :)
