Cookie Dough Fondue

Cookie Dough Fondue {warm cookie dough dip} | crazyforcrust.com | #cookiedough #dip

When looking for props for my photos I usually find stuff at stores like Ikea, Kohls, Sur la Table, Homegoods. I only buy stuff on the cheap or when it’s on sale – which is probably why I use the same stuff in every photo.

Last week, over on Instagram, Ashton and Jocelyn were talking about finding cool stuff at Goodwill. I’d never thought of going there, although I have stalked garage sales with hawk-like mini-plate eyes.

So over the weekend, in my quest to shop without spending much money and my need to be child-free for a few hours, I went to Goodwill to treasure hunt for some cute props.

Have you been to Goodwill lately? They have interesting stuff. Fine china nestled in alongside plastic, overused Tupperware.

Ice cream makers and bread machines galore, buried next to the VCR graveyard. {Hey, ever wonder where all the VCRs went to die? Goodwill.}

Also? Half used bottles of moisturizer. Yes, my Goodwill store was selling already used bottles of lotion and shampoo.

{Now, I know I am lucky to be able to shop for things and buy what I need, new, unused, and sometimes at regular price. But half used bottles of soap? That really doesn’t seem sanitary.}

Anyway, I found a few cute dishes and linens. And I found a really cute teensy fondue pot. Nothing special, a cute white one with a tealight and a $2.99 price tag. Sold!

The ideas started flowing. I mean, I can’t just make chocolate fondue, can I? This is me we’re talking about.

I started a list of yummy fondues. Yes, a list.

My first one: cookie dough.

I have cookie dough on the brain lately, possibly because of this.

I think about it all day long.

Why not make it a nice, warm, gooey dip?

I took this recipe, my favorite chocolate chip cookies, and adapted it for an egg-free bowl of goodness.

You can dip whatever you want. Marshmallows. Teddy Grahams. Graham Crackers. Pretzels. Mini cookies, perhaps?

It’s sweet and delicious and all things good.

It was getting late in the day when I finished the recipe and wanted to photograph it…so I took it outside. Got some pretty good shots.

Then I started thinking of all the amazing, superfabulous fondues I was going to make next.

And I pulled a Rachael Ray and picked up everything to bring in the house. My props, camera, the fondue pot filled with gooey, sticky deliciousness.

And then there was this.

I think I cried more for the dip than for the pot, although I am sad that my cute little white fondue pot is no more. I mean, I braved Goodwill for it.

But, the silver lining is that my half pint jars fit in the holder.

And…not all the dip fit in the cup. So I still had some left to eat with a spoon after dinner.

No fondue forks needed, folks. Just a spoon and a love of cookie dough. And maybe of Goodwill, too.

Enjoy! And I hope you all have a wonderful, fun, and safe Fourth of July!!

Cookie Dough Fondue

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ¾ cup flour
  • 4 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons non-fat milk
  • Handful of mini chocolate chips, for garnish
  • Items for dipping: marshmallows, fruit, graham crackers, cookies,…

Instructions

  1. Heat butter over low heat in a medium saucepan. Add sugars and stir until dissolved. Stir in vanilla and flour and cook for one minute. Remove from heat and whisk in cream and milk, adding more if needed to get the consistency you desire. Place in fondue pot and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Dip until you’re sick with cookie dough fever.
  2. (This makes about 1 ½ or two cups of cookie dough. I was going to measure…but then I dropped it. Oops.)
