Easy Red Velvet Blossom Cookies

Red Velvet Blossom Cookies are easily made with red velvet cake mix and cutely topped with a Hershey’s Kiss in the center! These are the perfect holiday cookie to give to your loved ones, especially for Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients Needed

  • Cake mix: I used Duncan Hines red velvet chocolate cake mix, but you can use any brand (or any flavor). 
  • Butter or oil: I prefer to melt the butter that way you don’t need to use a mixer, just stir!
  • Hershey kisses: Cookies ‘n Cream or the new truffle Hershey kisses would be fantastic with these red velvet blossom cookies! But feel free to use whichever flavor you want!

How to make Cake Mix Blossom Cookies

  • Preheat oven to 350°F then line cookie sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Mix together cake mix, eggs, and melted butter until the dough is thick. 
  • Scoop balls onto your cookie sheets and chill for at least 30 minutes. If you bake them right away they’ll spread just a bit too much.
  • Bake for about 8-10 minutes or until tops just start to crack. Immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss onto the top of each cookie. Let cool completely.
  • Store in an airtight container up to 3 days or freeze for up to 1 month.

  • Have fun mix and matching different flavors of cake mix!
  • Swap the Hershey’s Kiss with a cream cheese frosting.
  • I love using Cookies N’ Cream Hershey Kisses with thisred velvet cake mix but you can also go for a traditional milk chocolate flavor too!

Expert Tips

  • If you don’t have a hand mixer, melt the butter before to easily mix in all of the ingredients together with just a spoon and a large bowl. 
  • To enhance the flavor, use one teaspoon of vanilla extract.

  • 1 15-16 ounce box Red Velvet Cake Mix any brand
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter melted or softened
  • About 30 Hershey’s Kisses unwrapped (use your favorites: Hugs, Almond, Plain, Caramel, Cookies ‘n Cream, etc.)

  • Mix together cake mix, eggs, and butter using a hand mixer or stir it by hand. The dough will be thick.
  • Scoop 1 tablespoon sized balls onto your cookie sheets. Chill for at least 30 minutes. If you bake them right away they’ll spread just a bit too much.
  • Bake about 8-10 minutes until tops just start to crack. Err on the side of underdone! Immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss onto the top of each cookie. Let cool completely. 
  • Store in an airtight container up to 3 days or freeze for up to 1 month.
